While the euphemistic "irreconcilable differences" is often the official reason for divorce petitions, there are many other true marriage deal breakers. Most married couples in Columbus, Ohio may have quite different lifestyles than globally recognized celebrities, but they often face similar issues when their unions are simply not working.
The recent divorce actions of international supermodel Heidi Klum and her recording artist husband, Seal, appear to reinforce the idea that marriage dissolution can result from many different deal breakers. While the most common reason for celebrity divorces seems to involve infidelity of either or both parties, the deal breaker for this couple after 7 years of marriage is reportedly Seal's bad temper and anger issues.
Much like other couples, famous or not, these people surprised many with their divorce filing. Outwardly, they were known for public displays of affection, regular renewal of marriage vows and successfully raising their children. The depth of their internal problems was hidden from public view or knowledge. Even in the more conservative environment of Columbus, Ohio, there are many married couples who only appear to their friends, families and neighbors to be happy, well adjusted and content. Some percentage of this group has or will file for divorce.
Their deal breakers may take a variety of personas. Along with infidelity, other common deal breakers include money (usually the lack of it), work responsibilities, unemployment, drug or alcohol addiction, and strong personality conflicts. All can become irreconcilable differences and deal breakers.
